形態特徵

• Rather tall perennial with long creeping, slender, reddish rhizome. Culms solitary, arranged in a row along rhizome, erect, 45-100 cm tall, 2-8 mm thick below, regularly trigonous with subacute to subobtuse angles, subrigid, more or less shiny, deep green, clothed at base with 2 or 3 sheaths only.
• Sheaths 5-15 cm long, pale-green, membranaceous, obliquely truncate at orifice, bladeless or in relatively dry habitats bearing light green blade 1-5 cm long.
• Inflorescence a pseudo-lateral anthela, 3-6 cm long, loosely bearing 3 to 15 spikelets, or at times congested in a head-like cluster; bract 1, culm-like, 2-5 cm long, shorter than to briefly overtopping anthela, subacute at apex; rays rather stout, terminated by 1 to 3 sessile spikelets. Spikelets oblong to ovate-oblong, 7-12 mm long, 5-7 mm wide, obtuse at apex, rustybrown, densely many-flowered.
• Glumes elliptic to oblong, 3.5-4 mm long, membranaceous, pale and tinged with rusty-brow, green midvein ending in a mucro at emarginate or rounded apex. Achenes obovate or widely so, unequally biconvex, 2-2.5 mm long, suddenly contracted above to a mucronate apex, maturing brown, scarcely wrinkled; style 5-6 mm long, 2-cleft at apex. Hypogynous bristles 3-5, somewhat stout, nearly equalling achene, retrorsely scabrous with spines except at base.

分布

• 台灣 : Common in wet sandy soil of lowland marshes, often found near the sea.
• 世界 : Widely distributed in the temperate regions of Asia, southern Europe and the Mediterranean areas.
